Lindsey Golden

Director and Choreographer of the Golden Dance Experiment and creator of The Lindsey Golden Project

Lindsey Golden began her movement training with gymnastics and ballet, later re-focusing on a strict ballet regimen culminating with three years performing with the Fairfax Ballet. While studying contemporary dance at James Madison University, she performed with the Associate Dance Ensemble, Contemporary Dance Ensemble and their pre-professional touring group, the Virginia Repertory Dance Company. In 2006 Lindsey was honored by the JMU Dance Department with a Summer Study Scholarship Award, where she created her own intensive dance program in Washington D.C. Ms. Golden performed at the American College Dance Festival in 2007 and was selected to perform in the ACDFA Gala Concert in 2008. While studying dance abroad in London, England, she had the opportunity to participate in a contemporary dance session at the Laban Dance Center, and was selected to be the Social Event Coordinator by the JMU Contemporary Dance Study Abroad Program. Lindsey began her professional career performing with modern dance companies based in the Washington D.C. area: DanceAntonini and AriDen Dance Company. In 2011, Lindsey began to focus her attention on choreography and arts education by forming the University of Baltimore Contemporary Dance Company. In 2012, Lindsey branched off to direct and perform with the professional contemporary ballet, modern dance and cirque arts company, the Golden Dance Experiment. Since 2013 Lindsey and her composer Seth Milder formed the musical group Gonzostein, and have been creating artistic dance films to add a multi-media aspect to her live performances. Golden Dance Experiment is now in its 5th season and has performed in over 60 events, including the White House Halloween Festival 2015 and 2016. Lindsey's choreography spans a wide variety of styles including contemporary dance, ballet, belly dance, Afro-modern fusion, break and house dance combined with circus and flow arts: partner acrobatics, cube/square/bounce/club juggling, fire dance, hoop dance, multi-genre flow arts, stilt walking, unicycle, Lyra, aerial silks, poi, Isis wings, and ribbon dance. Lindsey's most recent projects include producing a music video with Gonzostein for two of the top 100 DJs in the world Quentin Harris and UltraNate, The Mayan Factor, Rimi Basu, and Black Angel Down. She enjoys performing with Fractal Cat, Telesma, Slow Lights, Dominic Fragman, and Daveed Korup.

Salih Mahammed

Juggler and Acrobat, Season 2-Present

Salih Mahammed, a circus performer from Etiopia with 15 years of professional experience based in Baltimore, MD, specializes in bounce ball juggling, shape juggling, solo and group club juggling, acrobatics, human pyramid, unicycle, and can juggle up to 8 balls at the same time. Since 2007 Salih has been performing internationally and in the USA with Mother Africa tour, as well as Cirque Dreams Holidaze, Jungle Fantasy. Salih and Lindsey met while performing for Charm City Movement Arts and they have been performing together since. Lindsey added Salih as a member of the company during its second season and he is a wonderful addition.

Hillary Pokrywka

Contemporary Dancer, Hoop and Fire Dancer, Aerialist, and Acrobat for Season 3-Present

Since the age of eight, Hillary has had a love for movement and performing. Growing up she had the privilege of attending performing arts middle and high schools, majoring in Dance. Hillary was accepted to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2009 where she appeared in many student choreographed pieces, as well as faculty works by Curt Hawoth, Silvana Cardel, Manfred Fischbeck, Brian Sanders, and “A Choreographic Offering” by Jose Limon, set by Janet Pila. In 2011 Hillary attended the Colorado College Dance Festival where she had her first experience doing aerial dance on the static trapeze. In 2012 she decided to explore her interests in circus training beginning with lyra, trapeze and areial silks at the Philadelphia School of Circus Art, and continued studies in aerial silks in Baltimore at the Mobtown Ballroom. Since 2013 she has performed throughout metro DC and Baltimore, captivating audiences and expanding her skills to include fire spinning, stilt walking, and hula hooping. Hillary has experience performing at Power Plant Live!, Enoch Pratt Library, Mariott Waterfront Hotel in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and The Howard Theatre. Hillary defines dance as a celebration of what it means to be alive, as well as a means of self-expression and transformation. She is passionate about pushing limits and breaking boundaries. In 2014 she became a new member of the Baltimore based dance company, Golden Dance Experiment, to perform both contemporary dance and circus skills. Hillary is excited to be working with The Golden Dance Experiment and can’t wait to see what the future has in store!

Seth Milder (Gonzostein)

Composer for the Golden Dance Experiment

Seth Milder has been playing his guitar since the age of twelve. For thirty years Seth has been mastering the classical guitar, electric guitar and bass, and is now beginning to take on the electronic music genre. Seth made his debut as a composer for the 2010 AriDen Dance Company Premiere at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop with his piece "Move," performed by choreographer/director/dancer Orit Sherman. Not only did he write the music and record the vocals and background beats, he also performed along with Sherman on stage with his electric guitar. Since 2010 Lindsey has been collaborating with Seth for multiple projects including: the University of Baltimore Contemporary Dance Company, social events (i.e. parties, weddings, music festivals), and recording some of their own original songs in a contemporary rock ensemble with Nathan Cassady on vocals and rhythm guitar. Milder was able to perform on stage once again in 2012 along with his recorded composition of "Linked in Motion," at the Baltimore Theater Project. Since 2012 Seth and Lindsey are working together again for all Golden Dance Experiment performances collaborating on music composition and special lighting effects. In 2014 Seth and Lindsey collaborated on a music video called "Dendrites" commissioned by Orit Sherman for her MFA in Dance at the University of Jerusalem.

Erin Jeannier

Fire/Flow Artist and Aerialist for Golden Dance Experiment Season 3-Present

Erin Jeannier has been performing circus acts professionally since 2011, entertaining for a variety events on the east coast. At age 3 she began her movement arts journey, learning ballet, tap, jazz, and Irish dance; she has always enjoyed the spot light of being on stage in front of an audience. As an adult, she found her passion for hula hooping. She has become a master of hoops, juggling and twirling as many as 6 hoops at once around each limb. She is always learning new skills and perfecting her craft. Flying 20 feet in the air wrapped in fabrics, balancing upon 3 foot peg stilts, or manipulating fire as she sets props aflame, she never ceases to amaze an audience. Erin's love for performing shines through with her playful energy, she will wow the crowd at any event.

GDE Intern 2017 Lisa Eibner

Lisa Eibner- Golden Dance Summer Intern 2017

For the past 12 years Lisa has dedicated her life to dance. She is currently a member of the Mercy High School dance troupe, where they practice dance 4+ hours a day in the styles of ballet, tap, modern/contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and pointe. Lisa has worked with many well known choreographers like Lauren Putty White, Shianne Antoine, Unissa Cruse Ferguson (danced in hairspray live), and has trained with professors from Baltimore School for the Arts. She is looking forward to learning from Golden Dance Experiment cast and having Lindsey as her mentor.

In 2016, Lisa performed hoop arts at the LoveLight Yoga & Arts festival and is exploring new cirque arts like aerial silks, ribbon dance, and poi wings. As her first dance improvisation with Lindsey Golden of Golden Dance Experiment, Lisa had the pleasure of performing with Fractal Cat, Telesma, The Theory of Everything, and Lucy Gallant. Lindsey has taken Lisa under her wing and will teach her about dance as a professional, as well as provide her with fun master classes from our talented hooper Erin Jeannier, and acrobatics from Lindsey and her various acro partners! Both Lindsey and Lisa are members of the arts organization, F.A.M, (Firehouse Arts and Music), and plan to create many beautiful fusion works together during the 2017 festival season.

Lainie Grey

Contemporary Dancer, Aerialist, Flow Artist, Fire Dancer and Acrobat for Season 3-4

Introducing Lainie Gray! Our newest addition to the GDE company season III. Lainie began dancing at the age of three. She studied primarily ballet and jazz, but enjoyed taking a variety of classes in modern, character, swing, and musical theater. Lainie studied dance under a former New York City Ballet soloist, David Otto. She attended summer intensive training at the Burklyn Ballet Theater, North Carolina School of the Arts, American Ballet Theater, and the Joffrey Ballet. Lainie was a performer with the Capitol Ballet Company, North East Ballet Company, and the Ithaca Ballet Company. Her love of performing led her to explore other performance arts such as fire dancing, aerial dance, and circus acrobatics. Lainie began teaching dance while in high school and later graduated Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. During her summers, Lainie works with children and teens teaching adventure and environmental education. Golden Dance Experiment company members are thrilled to have Lainie dancing as a new member.

Christina Moondust

Dancer for Golden Dance Experiment, Season 4

The Lindsey Golden Project is thrilled to have Christina Moondust join the Golden Dance Experiment Season 4, 2015-2016! Hailing from Athens, Georgia with degrees in art and education, Christina moved to Baltimore to pursue a doctorate at Johns Hopkins University. For many years she has been performing as a contemporary movement artist with extensive experience in a variety of settings: roller ballets, music videos, love parades, fashion modeling. In 2014 she performed in AKIMBO, the site-specific dance festival held annually in Baltimore, MD with director/choreographer Heather Joi. Her dance style is informed by spiritual practices, martial arts, yoga, house dance, circus arts and the animalistic movement quality of cats. Christina is continuing her training in aerial silks at Motown Ballroom and studying acrobatics, contemporary dance technique, and break dance with Lindsey Golden. In October 2015 Christina was invited to join the Golden Dance Experiment and had her first performance with the company at Bombadillo Festival 2015 with Ultra Nate. Welcome Christina!

Carrie Sells

Dancer in the Golden Dance Experiment Season 2

Baltimore County native Carrie Sells began her dance training at the age of four when she was introduced to ballet, tap, and jazz at a local community dance program. Later on she studied primarily ballet and modern techniques at the Nicole Gait Center for Performing Arts in Cockeysville, MD, where she was chosen to perform lead roles such as Arabian, Spanish, Merliton, and Waltz of the Flowers corps in their annual productions of The Nutcracker. What began as a casual after school activity quickly developed into a passionate devotion to movement and performance as Carrie spent most of her free time around the dance studio during her high school years, ultimately leading to her decision to pursue a career in dance.
In 2010, Carrie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Goucher College with a B.A. in Dance and a concentration in dance history and criticism. While at Goucher, she was chosen to perform under modern guest artist in residency Larry Keigwin (Keigwin + Company, NYC) as well as works choreographed by Goucher dance students and faculty. During her senior year she had the amazing opportunity to study abroad with other Goucher dancers in London, England where she was able to study and explore all areas of the professional dance world.
A big believer in the benefits of dance for adults and children alike, Carrie has focused most of her energy on dance education since graduating from college. In 2010 she began teaching ballet, tap, and jazz for the Ballet School of Cockeysville, becoming director of the program in 2011. She also began teaching ballet, modern, and creative movement in 2010 for MgM Dance Studio in Shrewsbury, PA where she currently teaches along with two other dance programs in the Baltimore area.
Carrie is extremely excited to continue her growth as a dancer this Fall as a company member for Golden Dance Experiment, and is looking forward to becoming more involved in the professional dance community here in Baltimore.

Lisa Tice

Dancer in the Golden Dance Experiment, Season 1-3

Lisa's passion for dance comes from a passion for celebrating life, love and growth. Free movement was always supported by her mother and an interest in performance inspired by her older sister Amy. After dancing through high school, she worked with Joanne Lundsford at the dance collaborative of the College of Southern Maryland. Moving to the Annapolis/Baltimore area, Lisa studied massage therapy, yoga, reiki, cranial sacral therapy, crystal healing, movement therapy, myofascial unwinding and the birth process. She began an exploration of spiritual expansion through dance and was moved by the transformation of primal dance traditions. She is now returning to technique and structure but always carrying the spirit of freedom and love of the earth. Lisa is very excited to have found such an amazing dance community here in Baltimore!
